Lose Weight, Gain Back Your Life 2
Losing weight has nothing to do with will power or lack of. Fanatical Dieting, Emotional Eating and Conditioning are the 3 most common patterns for obesity. I have mentioned in past articles of a highly successful technique that I use with clients and in my workshops. Remembering that all you need do is to DO IT!
It often works where nothing else will, usually rapid, long lasting and gentle, no drugs or equipment involved, easily learned by anyone and can be self applied. As Emotional Eating is the second most proven reason for obesity, I think this should be the first place to start, and it may well then work on fanatical dieting and conditioning.
The method is EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE, made of a set up , basic recipe and Affirmation Statement .
THE SETUP
The most important part of the technique is the setup. To do this we say an affirmation whilst tapping or rubbing a particular spot. For the purpose of this exercise I am going to show you the karate chop set up. If you have a look at your hand, palm facing you, look at the side of the hand from the top of the pinky finger down to the wrist. Just above the wrist is a flesh part where one would normally do a karate chop have you found it. If so this is the area you will tap using your pointer and middle fingers. Ok so now that we have all of that out of the way I want you to tap you karate spot for practice.
BASIC RECIPE – The Meridians
The meridians are as follow, try and find it on your body as I mention it. Practice a little so you become familiar with them.
1. Eye Brow this is the beginning of the eyebrow above the nose
2. Side of Eye this can be found the bone at the end of the eyebrow
3. Under Eye on the cheekbone under the eye
4. Under Nose- under the nose above the top lip
5. Chin the crevasse between the lower lip and the chin
6. Collar bone just under the collar bone
7. Armpit halfway down under the armpit
8. Thumb under the nail of the thumb
9. Pointer finger bottom side of the nail facing the thumb
10. Middle finger – bottom side of the nail facing the thumb
11. Little finger – bottom side of the nail facing the thumb
Repeat 1 to 7
Whilst tapping your karate spot as mentioned above you say an affirmation as listed below.
Using the Emotional Freedom Technique:
* SET UP followed by the statements below
* BASIC RECIPE
* AFFIRMATION STATEMENT
Then repeat the exercise again for each statement. You may feel you don t need to do some of the statements, however, experience has shown me from workshop participants and private clients that undertaking each one will be of great benefit. You will see that all statements starts with Even though .and ends with I deeply and completely accept myself or similar, add this ending where done is provided.

You Can Control those Food Cravings and Lose Weight using EFT
Stop Cravings using EFT 101
This article will deal with the basics of Emotion Freedom Techniques (EFT) and how you can use it to stop cravings. Once you learn the basic EFT process you’ll be able to stop any food craving!
What is EFT ? EFT is an emotional version of acupuncture, except you don’t use needles, you use your fingertips to stimulate the energy meridian points on your body. This is usually done with a tapping, or rubbing motion.
EFT is based on the belief that the cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system. This was initially discovered by Albert Einstein in the 1920s. He proved that our bodies are composed of energy. That being the case, it only makes sense to use energy therapy to resolve problems within the body.
“Some day the medical profession will wake up and realize that unresolved emotional issues are the main cause of 85% of all illnesses. When they do, EFT will be one of their primary healing tools …. as it is for me.” – Eric Robins, MD
“EFT never ceases to amaze me! The process is gentle and often provides benefits where other methods fail” – DR. R Vergini, MD
Let’s jump right into the process.
First you’ll need to find something that you’re craving to eat. Please get that item now before we start. For this demonstration let’s assume that you are craving a chocolate bar.
Step 1 – Measure the intensity of your craving for the chocolate bar. On a scale of 0-10,0 being no craving and 10 being an extremely strong craving, determine what your craving level is. For this test your craving level should be at least a 5. If it’s not, then either pick something you crave more, or work yourself up to a higher level. How ? Try smelling the chocolate. Now imagine how good it will taste. Do this until your craving is at least a 5. Good, now make a mental note of what your intensity is.
The Setup Step 2 – With the finger tips of one hand; begin tapping on the side of the other hand. Imagine dialing a phone with two fingers. You should tap hard enough to feel it, but not so hard that it is uncomfortable. You should tap on the part of the hand that would come in contact with a board if you were doing a karate chop. It is called the karate chop point and it is the fleshy part of your hand located about 1 inch below the base of the pinky finger. Continue tapping on the karate chop point and say the following affirmation 5 times.
Even though I crave this (you will use your food here), I totally accept and love myself.
In our example you would say
Even though I crave this chocolate bar, I totally accept and love myself.
Great! You have just finished the first step of The Basic Recipe. Now it’s time to move on to the next step, The Sequence.
The Sequence
Step 3 – The Sequence is very simple to do, first however you must learn how to do the tapping correctly. How to Tap
It is best to Tap with your dominant hand using the index and middle fingers. Tap solidly, however never hard enough to cause pain or discomfort. Tap about 7 times on each of the tapping points. If you find yourself tapping about 5 or 9 times that is fine also. As you tap repeat the following affirmation;
This (insert your food here.)
In our example “This chocolate bar”
The Points
Eyebrow: At the beginning of the eyebrow to one side of the nose. Side of Eye: On the bone bordering the outside of the eye. Under Eye: On the bone about 1 inch below the eye. Under Nose: On the small area at the bottom of the nose and the top of the upper lip. Chin: Midway between the point of your chin and the bottom of your lower lip Collar Bone: The junction where the collarbone and the first rib meet. Under the Arm: About 4 inches below the armpit.
Congratulations you now have completed round 1. Now it’s time to reassess you craving level. Determine the level that you now crave the food you chose. Most people will notice an immediate drop in the intensity level of their craving. If you were a 5 or 6, this process might have lowered it to a 1 or a 2, or possibly even 0.
You can further lower your intensity level by repeating the above process and changing the affirmations somewhat.
The new Step 2 affirmation would be “Even though I still have some of this craving left I totally and completely love and accept myself”
The new step 3 affirmation would be
“Remaining (insert your food here) craving”
In our example “Remaining chocolate bar craving”
Great job! You have just completed EFT 101. You will easily learn this process after doing it several times. In future newsletters I will be covering using EFT for weight loss in more depth. Until then happy tapping!
